MASBATE CITY – New People’s Army in Masbate urges the local government here to protect the interests and rights of Masbateños and do not be blinded with the killings of the AFP and PNP against the civilians.
NPA-Masbate-Jose Rapsing Command cited the recent alleged encounter between red fighters and the combined forces of the Scout Platoon, HHC 2nd IB, 96th MICO, 9th MIB, and 22nd IB, PA, led by 2nd Lt. Ryan r. Aljas.
Luz Del Mar, NPA-JRC spokesperson, denied the allegation of Captain Randy Llunar, public affairs officer of Army’s 9th Infantry Division, that there was an encounter and a suspected member of NPA was killed in Baleno town, Masbate Masbate last July 31.
In the independent investigation of human rights group in Masbate, married civilian and peasant Edgar “Noy” Suriaga, 52, was extrajudicially killed by elements of 96th MICO (Military Intellegence and Combat Operatives) Philippine Army.
It was 5 am in morning of July 31 when the military rained bullets in the victim’s house. When Noy was hit, they dragged him out of the house, tortured and shot his feet. The military let the victim run while releasing gunshots until he died.
The recovered M16 assault rifle at Suriaga’s house was planted according to Karapatan Masbate.
This also was done in three farmers from Brgy. San Carlos, Milagros and a grandmother with her grandson in Brgy. Panan-awan, Cawayan, Masbate recently.
The series of killings of peasants in the countryside brings tremendous fear and poverty under Oplan Kapayapaan of Duterte administration.
“It is the knowledge of people that violence is the consequence of the increasing militarization in the countryside of the province perpetrated by AFP and PNP mercenaries,” said Mar.
According to Mar, it is also the duty and responsibility of the locals officials in Masbate to validate facts and protect its constituents. (BaretangBikolnon.com)
